Thompson Coe Elects Ten New Partners

DALLAS – September 2020 – Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, L.L.P. is pleased to announce the election of ten new partners – Lauren Doughty, Lindsay Drennan, Samantha Halpern, Jeffrey Janota, Matthew Kolodoski, Raymond Kutch, Erika Laremont, Allison Miller, Doris Royce, and Ben Weible. A brief overview of each partner is below:

Lauren Doughty - Austin: Lauren Doughty focuses her practice on the representation of businesses and insurance companies involved in personal injury and property damage litigation in state and federal courts throughout Texas. Her work includes defending both large corporations and small business owners in personal injury lawsuits involving premises liability, product liability, construction defect, catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims. Her first-party experience includes representing insurance carriers against allegations of breach of contract, bad faith, deceptive trade practices and Insurance Code violations. Lauren was nominated by her peers as a "Best Lawyer - One to Watch" in 2020.

Lindsay Drennan - Dallas: Lindsay Drennan's practice focuses on defending individuals and businesses in personal injury, premises liability, construction defect, products liability, and dram shop liability disputes. Lindsay was named a Texas Super Lawyer - Rising Star in 2019 and 2020 and was accepted to the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers’ 2020 Leadership Class.

Samantha Halpern - Dallas: Samantha represents and advises insurers on complex insurance coverage disputes and bad faith claims arising under commercial general liability, auto, employer's liability, and excess/umbrella policies.  She litigates complicated insurance coverage actions in state and federal court involving the duty to defend and indemnify, additional insured coverage, and choice of law issues, in addition to cases involving contractual and extra-contractual claims.

Jeffrey Janota - Austin: Jeff Janota devotes his practice to the defense of clients and insurers in civil litigation matters involving catastrophic injury, wrongful death, products liability, construction defect, professional liability, UM/UIM and bad faith. Jeff routinely represents developers, property owners and management companies, general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, hotels, insurance companies, agents, transportation companies and drivers.

Matthew Kolodoski - Dallas:  Matthew Kolodoski is a litigation attorney who has successfully represented clients through all phases of trial and appellate proceedings in state and federal courts throughout Texas. His practice focuses primarily on the representation of insurance carriers in all aspects of insurance coverage and extra-contractual litigation. Matthew is on the Board of Directors for the State Bar of Texas as a Section Representative and Chair-Elect of the Civil Liberties & Civil Rights Section of the State Bar of Texas. He was also accepted to the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers’ 2020 Leadership Class. Matthew is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).

Raymond Kutch - Houston: Ray focuses his practice on insurance coverage and bad-faith cases in state and federal courts throughout the United States.  He also assists insurance companies and commercial clients with complex issues in litigation, including jurisdictional challenges, summary judgments, expert challenges, mandamus relief, the jury charge, and post-trial motions. Ray is a Texas Super Lawyer - Rising Star 2018-2020. 

Erika Laremont - Austin: As part of the Professional Liability section, Erika represents attorneys, accountants, real estate agents and insurance agents with professional malpractice, breach of contract and DTPA claims.  She also handles cases for the Casualty section, representing trucking companies, commercial businesses, apartment complexes and industrial employers on personal injury claims.

Allison Miller -  Houston: Allison R. Miller defends a wide variety of claims in areas including construction defect, wrongful/survival claims, personal injury, premises liability, dram shop, defamation/slander, products defects, and insurance defense. Allison has prior litigation experience as a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney.

Doris Royce - New Orleans: Doris’ practice focuses on interstate carrier and automobile litigation, premises liability, and insurance defense.  She represents a wide range of defense interests from national corporations and insurers to local insurance agents and business owners.  Doris believes that the best way to resolve a case efficiently and minimize exposure is to handle it from the start as if it is going to trial, by balancing an aggressive defense and strategic motion practice with a keen ability to accurately assess judgment value. 

Ben Weible - Dallas: Ben is a member of the Professional Liability section. His practice focuses on representing clients in a range of construction disputes, licensing board complaints, and professional liability matters.
