HOUSTON, TX – July 30, 2020 – Houston Partner, Cory Reed, recently won an arbitration in the 127th Judicial District Court of Harris County. Cory represented an accountant in a dispute arising from unpaid fees for services provided to a non-profit company from 2007 to 2016. The client sued for payment and was met with various counter-claims, including negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract. Taking on each of the claims, Cory persuaded the non-profit’s expert to agree that none of the counter-claims were reasonable. “I am very pleased with the outcome for my client and the carrier,” said Cory. “It was clear the counter-claims had no merit.” The case was arbitrated by the Better Business Bureau and conducted via Zoom communications.
