DOL Moves Overtime Regulations Forward
By Kevin M. Mosher • Mar 18, 2016
This week (3/18/2016) the Department of Labor (DOL) took the next to last step toward issuing its proposed new overtime regulations by sending the proposal to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The result of these regulations could drastically alter the salary level businesses need to pay most white collar exempt employees. It is now OMB’s turn to perform a final review of the proposed regulations before they are published in the Federal Register. It is unknown how long OMB will take to conduct its review, but given the politics around these regulations it would not be surprising to have these proposed regulations move quickly through OMB and become actual regulations as early as July 2016.
You can find our review of the overtime regulations as proposed under “New Proposed Overtime Regulations Parts I & II”.
