Thompson Coe Attorneys Obtain Defense Verdict for Ford Motor Company
Feb 21, 2011
Houston partner Zandra Foley recently obtained a defense verdict for Ford Motor Company and Helfman Ford.
The initial claim of product liability defects (e.g. design, marketing, and warranty) were disposed of by summary judgment. The remaining claims under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act proceeded to trial for the alleged misrepresentations by Ford and their local dealer following the sale of a 2008 F-350 Powerstroke Diesel. Plaintiff’s sought nearly $300,000 in actual and statutory damages under the DTPA. Following a three day trial, and after less than an hour of deliberations, the Harris County jury returned a verdict finding that neither Ford nor their local dealer committed any violations of the DTPA.
