Tiffany Au focuses her practice on first-party and third-party insurance defense litigation, representing insurance carriers, companies, and individuals throughout the state of Texas in areas of insurance coverage, excess liability, contractual and extra-contractual, personal injury, premises liability, and professional liability litigation.

Over the past 10 years, she has worked directly with countless general counsels, third-party administrators, and claims professionals to evaluate, assess, and provide exposure evaluations to efficiently resolve claims. She is responsive to clients and claims professionals and known to be direct with her case evaluations regarding liability and damages exposure analysis. Through her representation of companies through insurance carriers, she is oftentimes hired directly by general counsel at companies to analyze risk, evaluate claims, and defend in litigation.

She has obtained summary judgments in favor of her clients, and she has tried cases to juries across North Texas resulting in favorable verdicts, including a state court case resulting in a defense verdict in 2016. She regularly advises clients in risk management, including liability assessments and corporate investigations in events of catastrophic loss.

Tiffany also has extensive experience in litigating cases arising from major commercial transportation accidents involving allegations of Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulation violations, workplace accidents involving OSHA or MSHA violations, and highway accidents involving multi-vehicle accidents.


Background

Most recently, Thompson Coe sent Tiffany on secondment the summer of 2023 to work with Newline Group’s wordings counsel to review and update policy wordings and provide consultation to the underwriting and claims teams on liability and coverage issues in the US. With her background litigating general liability claims as well as coverage claims for insured, she provided a unique perspective to Newline and helped the wordings teams update terms and definitions within policy wordings in order to clarify cover intent and exclusions.

Tiffany has a diverse legal background including interning for the Honorable Don D. Bush in the Eastern District of Texas, working as a municipal prosecutor for the City of Irving, and defending traffic tickets as an associate attorney at a firm in Fort Worth. She is also a trained mediator with experience mediating disputes involving consumer debt, family law, and personal injury litigation.

Prior to joining Thompson Coe, she gained trial and litigation experience through representing insurers, companies, and individuals in disputes involving insurance coverage, personal injury torts involving catastrophic injury or death, and breach of contract claims resulting in favorable resolutions for her clients.

Represented the sixth largest cement manufacturer in North America in a wrongful death case.

Represented a leading PVC pipe manufacturer in North America in a products liability case.

Represented a leading North America trucking and transportation company responsible for relocating and storing commercial and fleet vehicles.

Represented the largest auto insurer in the United States defending liability claims against its’ insureds.

Represented the second largest auto insurer in the United States defending first-party claims and third party liability claims.
