Denise Leisten primarily focuses her practice on defending property insurers against claims involving breach of contract, alleged violations of the Texas Insurance Code and the DTPA, and allegations of bad faith. With more than 20 years of litigation experience in both state and federal courts, Denise prides herself on being efficient and effective in handling her caseload and is known for her professional approach to matters.

Representative Experience

Obtained summary disposition in favor of a fortune 50 insurance carrier in US District Court for the Southern District of Texas, involving an unpaid appraisal award due to insured's failure to segregate damages, upheld by Fifth Circuit.

Defended insurance agents in errors and omissions claims involving property insurance.

Obtained a favorable order in Harris County holding that an insurer had no duty to defend, and later obtained a jury verdict for insurer and agent finding no liability for indemnity.

Defended insurers in extra-contractual claims involving personal and commercial insurance, with high volume case load “hurricane litigation.”

Defended fortune 100 national insurer in first-party automobile liability litigation, and homeowners' property claim disputes, appraisal and litigation defense.

Represented national insurers working with the special investigative unit on claims involving coverage questions and/or concerns of insurance fraud.
