The legal news publication, Law360, released their annual “Glass Ceiling Report” where they surveyed 269 U.S. based firms for female attorney representation at all levels. Thompson Coe is ranked 10th among law firms of its size, 101-250 attorneys. This is the 8th year in a row Thompson Coe has been prominently featured on the Glass Ceiling Report, and a jump from the 16th ranking of last year.

Law360 noted “that women faced even taller obstacles amid COVID-19 last year, as female attorneys reported more stress and less organizational support than their male peers. The closure of schools and day care facilities also led many mothers to shoulder more child care responsibilities, exacerbating existing imbalances in the home and workplace.”

Based on these challenges, Law360 redesigned its 2021 Glass Ceiling report to assess female lawyers’ industry standing from a new angle. Rather than just being based on the proportion of female attorneys and female equity partners, this year Law360 looked at how law firms’ percentage of women across three attorney levels compared with the potential marketplace of hires.

Women comprise approximately 30 percent of Thompson Coe partners, 55 percent of associates, and 42 percent women overall. Fifty percent of Thompson Coe partner promotions in 2021 were female.

“Thompson Coe is committed to the principles of diversity and to ensuring that our women lawyers find success at every level,” said Cassie Dallas, Thompson Coe Diversity & Inclusion Committee Chair. “We are dedicated to promoting diversity in all facets of the firm’s organization, community involvement, and client service.”
