Partners Recognized in the 2009 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®

Four attorneys from Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, LLP are being included in the 2009 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Brian S. Martin is being cited for his achievements in Insurance Law. Ronald D. Wamsted is being recognized for his accomplishments in Personal Injury Litigation and Product Liability Litigation. David D. Knoll is being selected for inclusion based on his achievements in the specialty of Insurance Law. Jeff Otto is recognized for his achievements in personal injury litigation.

Brian S. Martin, a Partner in the Houston office, has extensive experience in insurance coverage and defense matters, specializing in environmental, bad faith, toxic tort, construction, and product cases. Mr. Martin has also been named one of Texas’ Leading Insurance Attorneys by Chambers USA (2003-2008), received the 2008 Chambers Award for America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and named a “Texas Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly Magazine (2007-2008).  Mr. Martin is the current Chairman of the Insurance Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Ron D. Wamsted, a Partner the Austin office, is in the Mass Tort & Product Liability group. He primarily practices civil litigation involving automobile products liability and other personal injury matters. This is his fourth year for being recognized in Best Lawyers.  His work was also acknowledged as one of the “Top Defense Wins of 2005” by the National Law Journal and the Defense Research Institute.

David D. Knoll has had an extensive career spanning over 35 years representing clients in the insurance industry, as both in-house and outside counsel. Mr. Knoll has broad experience in all aspects of insurance law, including life, accident and health, annuity and property and casualty and surplus lines insurance and reinsurance. He has represented clients in well over 100 bulk reinsurance and loss portfolio transfer transactions and has handled regulatory matters involving holding company transactions, market conduct and financial examinations, licensing issues, surplus lines qualification, withdrawal plans, rehabilitation proceedings, and similar proceedings in more than a dozen jurisdictions.

Jeff D. Otto is a partner in the Casualty & Tort Litigation and Professional Liability groups. His practice focuses on civil trial work with an emphasis on personal injury litigation, products liability, medical device litigation, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, chemical and toxic tort litigation, insurance litigation, and reinsurance.
