Thompson Coe Obtains Directed Verdict in Commercial Property Bad Faith Case

Thompson Coe obtained a directed verdict on behalf of State Farm Lloyds at jury trial over alleged damage to a commercial property caused by a May 2015 wind and hail storm. U.S. District Judge John McBryde granted Motion for Judgment as a Matter of Law after considering Plaintiff’s evidence and sustaining State Farm Lloyds’ objections to the Plaintiff’s designated testifying experts.
Plaintiff contended State Farm Lloyds wrongfully denied coverage for damages to the roof and interior of a commercial building and failed to pay under the policy’s business interruption coverage part. Plaintiff’s claims against State Farm Lloyds were dismissed with prejudice.
