New Orleans Attorneys Obtain Dismissal in Offshore Oilfield Case with Personal Injuries
Feb 5, 2025
New Orleans attorneys Randolph Waits and Matthew Feigler obtained a dismissal three months prior to trial in a maritime case involving personal injuries on an offshore oilfield.
Defendant Proves Supplier Did Not Cause or Contribute to Injuries
The case began when the Plaintiff was severely injured while working on an offshore oil rig structure when he fell from scaffolding. Plaintiff alleged that our client supplied the scaffolding and caused or contributed to his fall and related personal injuries.
The Thompson Coe team argued that Defendant offshore supplier was not involved in any way in the assembly, erection, formation, design, or placement of any scaffolding nor did they oversee operations on the offshore oil rig structure near the time of Plaintiff’s fall.
The Eastern District of Louisiana agreed and granted Defendant’s motion for summary judgment.
