Quote from colleague

“Your professionalism and military bearing have been a constant reminder of what real leadership looks like. You’ve shown that leading isn’t about rank or authority, but about character, consistency, and genuine care for people.”

James Houston focuses his practice on general liability and catastrophic injury. Before joining the firm, he served as both a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Army and an Attorney Advisor for the Department of Defense assigned to the Texas Military Department. As an attorney advisor, he provided legal advice to generals who commanded more than 20,000 Texas Army National Guard Soldiers.

James was also responsible for prosecuting hundreds of soldier misconduct cases and arguing cases at administrative board hearings. As a Judge Advocate, James has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience through his service to Texas and the United States of America. He held multiple leadership roles and has deployed within Texas and overseas on multiple occasions. James has gained valuable litigation experience as a criminal prosecutor in Saipan and Arizona, and as a public defender in Arkansas.

He also gained valuable skills in handling complex matters while working as a compliance and privacy officer for a large multistate healthcare organization. His philosophy is “be objective, do your job, and if you have to take something to the mat, be right.”
