Attorneys in Thompson Coe’s Austin office secured a trial verdict on behalf of a construction company after an eight-day construction accident jury trial.

Plaintiff sued the Defendant, general contractor at a condo project, claiming unsafe work conditions and failure to provide safe equipment. Plaintiff fell four stories from a 60-foot extension ladder provided to him by the Defendant that he claimed “telescoped” down causing his fall. The accident took place while Plaintiff was painting the exterior of the building.

His injuries included multiple fractures requiring surgeries to his back and leg resulting in hospitalization for approximately one month. Plaintiff claimed past and future medical expenses for treatment of his injuries and also claimed he could no longer work due to his injuries.

Based on the jury’s verdict, a final take nothing judgment was entered in favor of Thompson Coe’s client on July 2, 2012. The judgment found no liability on the Defendant, dismissed all of Plaintiff’s claims, and awarded no damages to Plaintiff.
