Former 5th COA Justice Joins Appellate Section

Thompson Coe is pleased to announce the recent addition of Former Justice Cory Carlyle, who recently concluded a six-year term on the Fifth District Court of Appeals in Dallas. Cory is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law and joins the Dallas Appellate section with more than 19 years’ experience.

With significant Appellate decisions that have impacted insurance litigation and claims handling, our Appellate section continues to deliver high-caliber legal advocacy as our team challenges or defends lower court decisions and delivers innovative solutions to meet our client’s needs.

Cory is known for his advocacy skills and regularly assists clients as appellate counsel before and during trial for a successful defense. He has extensive experience handling law-heavy trial portions, including dispositive motions, evidentiary matters, and jury charges.

Cory is always ready to pursue mandamus or appeal, even if the firm did not handle the trial. His philosophy is practical and proves that comprehensive trial preparation leads to appellate success.

Cory received his J.D. from University of Houston Law Center and his B.A. from University of Texas at Austin. He is licensed in Texas and the District of Columbia.
