Five Thompson Coe Attorneys Selected As Lawyer of the Year Honorees by ‘Best Lawyers’

The Best Lawyers in America has recognized Tasha Barnes, Thomas Culpepper, Shawn Phelan, Zandra Foley, and Trey Wilson as Lawyer of the Year honorees in the 2027 edition for Product Liability Litigation – Defendants, Ethics and Professional Responsibility Law, Professional Malpractice Law – Defendants, and Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants.

Tasha Barnes is the Austin Chair of the Casualty Section.
With more than 25 years of experience, Tasha has successfully defended hundreds of catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and professional negligence cases. Her experience includes a diverse range of litigation, including high-exposure personal injury and professional negligence cases. She frequently represents construction companies, trucking companies, real estate agents, bars and restaurants, premises owners and health care providers.
Thomas Culpepper serves as Thompson Coe General Counsel in the Dallas office, where he supports the Firm’s strategic planning and regulatory compliance.
His practice focuses on professional liability defense, commercial disputes, and insurance coverage matters. He has resolved hundreds of cases outside of trial, and he has tried over 20 cases to verdict. He is committed to helping clients reach the best possible resolution to their disputes, whether it be through trial, arbitration, or settlement. Tom represents attorneys, insurance agents, insurers, real estate brokers, commercial property owners, accountants, third-party administrators, officers and directors, and other professionals throughout Texas. He also guides professionals through grievance proceedings
Shawn Phelan is the Partner-in-Charge of the Dallas office and Chair of the Management Committee.
His practice focuses on professional liability defense, legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty suits, grievance proceedings, errors-and-omissions claims, and construction defect cases. He represents lawyers, design professionals, officers and directors, real estate brokers, insurance agents, and other professional clients in litigation throughout Texas.
George “Trey” Wilson III serves on the Management Committee.
He focuses his practice on products liability, premises liability, construction defect, automobile/trucking accident and crashworthiness, and real estate agent/broker errors and omissions claims. Trey has represented numerous parties in personal injury, wrongful death, breach of contract, fire, and property damage cases, including property owners and management companies, general contractors, subcontractors, churches, private schools, hotels, movie theaters, and restaurants.
Zandra Foley serves on the Management Committee.
She is a trial attorney who represents clients in complex litigation matters related to products liability, mass torts, malpractice, and errors and omissions. She also defends clients who have been sued for various intentional torts including assault, battery, libel, slander, and defamation. Zandra has served as national and regional trial counsel on medical device, product liability, and mass tort matters and has extensive experience advising clients on complex disputes with an eye toward early, efficient resolution.
