Biography

Travis is a trial lawyer. His practice primarily focuses on defending claims for premises liability, commercial automobile accidents, products liability, dram shop actions, and industrial accidents involving property damage, personal injury, and wrongful death.

Prior to joining Thompson Coe, Travis served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office in Houston for eight years. Although prosecutors are typically only trial lawyers, Travis has experience as both a trial lawyer and an appellate practitioner. During his five years as a trial lawyer at the DA’s Office, he served as lead counsel in over 45 jury and court trials, obtaining favorable verdicts in a variety of cases, including murder, sexual assault, physical assault, and driving while intoxicated cases. Having handled thousands of criminal cases as a prosecutor, Travis is also a skilled negotiator. As an appellate practitioner for three years, he drafted legal briefs that addressed complex issues and successfully argued several cases before the First and Fourteenth Courts of Appeals, which hear both criminal and civil matters.

Travis has a strong background in conducting thorough investigations, researching legal issues efficiently, and effectively advocating for his client, whether on paper or in front of a jury.
