Nine Attorneys Join Thompson Coe in Austin & Houston

March 5, 2005

AUSTIN, DALLAS, and HOUSTON, TX – Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, L.L.P. recently announced that nine new attorneys are joining the firm in early March. The new attorneys will bring Ford Motor Company as a client to Thompson Coe, as the group has served as one of Ford’s primary trial and appellate teams for products liability cases in Texas.

The attorneys, who previously practiced with Brown McCarroll, L.L.P., will be based in Thompson Coe’s Austin and Houston offices. The attorneys, all of whom will join the firm’s Mass Tort and Products Liability practice group, include five partners: Ronald D. Wamsted; Michael W. Eady; Evan N. Kramer; William Mennucci and John W. Chambless II. The new attorneys also include four associates: Juan M. Alcalá; Brian D. Hensley; Danielle Harsany Shields; and William R. Moye. Of the nine new attorneys, six will be resident in Austin – Chambless, Eady, Mennucci, Wamsted, Alcalá and Hensley. The remaining three – Kramer, Harsany Shields and Moye – will be resident in the firm’s Houston office.

"We are pleased to have this group of extremely talented trial and appellate attorneys join our firm," said Jack Cleaveland, Chairman of the Management Committee for Thompson Coe. “Thompson Coe already had one of the largest and most experienced litigation practices in Texas. Now, with the addition of these nine attorneys, we are expanding our depth of experienced trial and appellate attorneys and adding a significant, blue chip client.”

The group of nine lateral hires will increase Dallas-based Thompson Coe’s attorney roster to a total of 133 lawyers in its four offices. The firm will now have 24 attorneys in Austin and 17 in Houston.

“Our team of attorneys saw a wonderful opportunity to join one of Texas’ premier litigation practices at Thompson Coe,” said Wamsted. “Their sophisticated mass tort and products liability practice on behalf of Fortune 50 companies was a powerful factor in our decision, as was the firm’s strong experience throughout the state. We look forward to continuing our work on behalf of Ford and other clients at Thompson Coe.”
