Austin Partner, Jessica Mangrum, recently became Board Certified in Construction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Jessica has been handling construction law matters for the past fifteen years, and is now one of a very select group of Texas lawyers who have achieved Board Certification in Construction Law.
The Board Certification process is rigorous and thorough with stringent, ongoing requirements after initial certification. Board Certified attorneys must be licensed for at least five years, devote a required percentage of practice to a specialty area for at least three years, attend continuing education seminars, pass an evaluation by fellow lawyers and judges and pass a 6-hour written examination.
“This is an important milestone in her career. She worked hard to obtain this voluntary designation and we are very proud of her accomplishment,” said Jeff Otto, a senior partner in Austin's construction law practice.
Board Certification is offered in 24 specific areas of law to attorneys. To remain certified attorneys must apply for recertification every five years and meet substantial involvement, peer review and continuing legal education requirements for their specialty area.
An induction ceremony will be held on February 23, 2018 in Austin to honor the newly certified attorneys.
