Biography

Michella Gibbs’ litigation practice focuses mainly on products liability, professional liability, premises liability, claims involving catastrophic injuries and mass tort litigation. Michella also has experience representing clients in administrative hearings and handling labor and employment disputes. Prior to joining Thompson Coe, Michella worked as a law clerk for the Travis County District Courts in Austin, Texas and also as a legislative intern during the 84th Texas Legislature.  Michella is responsible for managing cases in all stages of litigation in state and federal courts, and her varied practice allows her to have unique insight on a range of defense matters. Her clients include insurers, lawyers, insurance agents, non-profit organizations, and small and large businesses.

Representative Experience

  • Obtained summary judgment in federal court for non-profit client in case involving issue of vicarious liability
  • Obtained summary judgment for client subcontractor in a personal injury ladder fall case
  • Obtained summary judgment for client on a negligent entrustment claim in personal injury car accident lawsuit
  • Obtained 91a dismissal for engineering firm client on a negligence claim
  • Negotiated on behalf of client land surveyor at settlement conference with Texas Board of Professional Land Surveyors resulting in significant reduction in penalty
