Michael Huffstutler focuses primarily on defending personal injury claims encompassing a broad range of negligence and tort actions. He has accrued valuable experience in litigating and defending motor vehicle accidents, premises liability cases, animal attacks, dram shop/wrongful death actions, and Texas Non-Subscriber claims.

While in law school, Michael never lost sight of his ultimate goal – learning practical law. He honed his skills in real world practice when he was interviewed for and selected to participate in multiple experiential learning opportunities, including his representation of tech startups and non-profit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as a fellowship at Yale Law School. Michael was active in his law school’s business law journal and routinely volunteered around campus with causes he held in high regard, including landlord/tenant disputes, volunteer income tax filing assistance for low-income residents, and legal aid for individuals in urban housing crisis situations.

Before joining Thompson Coe, Michael was staff counsel for a sizeable insurance company engaging in the defense of casualty and coverage claims. He gained hands-on experience working directly with clients through each of their unique legal needs and going to trial on multiple occasions when necessary. Directly after graduating from the University of California – Hastings College of the Law, Michael was an attorney with a high volume, full-suite plaintiff’s personal injury law firm. Michael attributes this experience as invaluable in his ability to analyze how a plaintiff will pursue their case strategy throughout the life cycle of a lawsuit and negotiate. He uses his insights into plaintiff psychology and behavior to devise unique and sophisticated case strategies and defend clients successfully against a variety of exposures. Michael brings years of experience to the table for each of his clients in the realm of insurance law and personal injury, and he leverages his legal skills and practical knowledge to pursue the most favorable outcomes possible.
