September 20, 2016
Webinar

During this presentation the audience learned about the general test to establish personal jurisdiction over a party in the 5th Circuit. They learned how to analyze a party’s internet presence to determine whether it is sufficient to establish jurisdiction over the party in the forum state. They also learned how to apply the “Zippo” test to a jurisdictional analysis as well as which circuits (in addition to the 5th) have adopted this test.  There was a discussion of US Supreme Court case law and recent, reported 5th Circuit decisions addressing internet activity as a basis of establishing personal jurisdiction.
