Upon completion of this course, attendees should have learned about the history for the federal and state open records acts. Attendees learned about the type of information available from various federal, state, and local government agencies and how to properly request and obtain this information in connection with investigating and defending claims/litigation. Attendees learned about what is not covered by these acts (judiciary, etc.). Attendees also learned about the pros and cons of obtaining records via open records request as opposed to a subpoena or deposition on written questions.
