June 22, 2017 - Houston attorneys Kevin Risley and Andrew Johnson maintained an $8 million fraud judgment on behalf of their client in the Dallas Court of Appeals. The case involved a $20 million private jet purchased by the client from Bombardier. After discovering that the jet’s engines, which were allegedly new, had a storied repair history, the client sued for fraud. Tanya White, another Houston attorney, secured a judgment for $3 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitives before it was taken to appeal.
On appeal, Bombardier retained the Hankinson Law Firm, who challenged the fraud finding, evidentiary support for the compensatory damages, and constitutionality of the punitive award. The Dallas Court issued an opinion fully affirming the judgment.
