Jamie K. Baker’s art history background, along with her experience as a collector, combine in an insurance law practice focused on litigation and coverage with a special interest in fine art, specie, and other valuable articles issues.  She is also a regular speaker on business and legal issues for artists.  

Jamie’s experience includes litigation and coverage projects involving complex insurance and business issues under a variety of coverage lines.  She is experienced in case evaluation, strategy, and motion practice; contract negotiations/review; and extensive oral advocacy.  Jamie is licensed to practice in both Texas and New York.

Representative Experience
  • Analyzed coverage issues for a Third Party Administrator that were raised by a unique restoration loss to a 1930’s American painting from the Early Texas Regional School
  • Represented a fine art handling company in an additional named insured matter involving a claim for shipping damage to a Willem de Kooning painting
  • Analyzed coverage and coordinated restoration experts in a claim involving a rare first edition, first printing book and lost dust jacket
  • Represented galleries and arts organizations in contract disputes
  • Represented non-profit ballet company in contract negotiations for summer festival engagements
  • Represented non-profit fashion incubator in connection with Texas’ Next Top Designer competition
  • Obtained summary judgment in federal court dismissing insurer from multi-million dollar lawsuit on grounds of no duty to defend
  • Obtained appellate ruling reversing lower court decision on matter of significant impact to indemnitors
