Diandra De Paula’s practice focuses primarily on maritime, energy, and casualty defense, as well as marine and general liability insurance coverage matters. Ms. De Paula has experience in defending vessel owners and operators in claims arising under the Jones Act, the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, as well as claims arising from vessel collisions and cargo damage.
Originally from Honduras, Ms. De Paula’s passion for the maritime industry began at an early age while working for her family’s four-generation shipping company. Her work there exposed her to maritime issues in numerous Caribbean and Central American countries, including the Cayman Islands, Panama, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Belize, and the Bahamas.
Prior to joining Thompson Coe, Ms. De Paula lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where she worked on corporate matters involving energy and environmental regulations compliance, contract drafting and various transactional matters involving Latin America and Brazil. Before her time in Brazil, she practiced law in New Orleans as an associate at Brown Sims, P.C.
Ms. De Paula is a native Spanish speaker and is proficient in Portuguese and Italian.
