Will D. Davis Joins Thompson Coe

The law firm of Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, L.L.P. is pleased to announce the addition of well-known attorney Will D. Davis, formerly of Heath, Davis & McCalla, P.C., to its Austin, Texas office. Mr. Davis has long been recognized as one of the leading insurance lawyers in Texas. He served as General Counsel for the Texas Department of Insurance and as an Assistant Attorney General of Texas before founding the Heath, Davis & McCalla law firm where he has represented major insurance companies, insurance holding companies and insurance trade associations since 1960. Mr. Davis is active in representing insurance company clients before the Texas Legislature, the Texas Department of Insurance, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and other state insurance regulatory authorities on all matters pertaining to insurance, with particular emphasis upon insurance legislation, examination, investments, financial activities, acquisitions, mergers, reinsurance and affiliate transactions under insurance holding company laws. He has also testified as an expert witness on insurance issues in numerous court and administrative proceedings.

Will Davis’ experience extends far beyond the insurance industry. He has been an active leader in public education at all levels. He was elected and served as a member of the Texas State Board of Education and as a member and past President of the Austin Independent School District Board of Trustees. He previously served as Chairman and as a member of the Board of Regents of Baylor University. Mr. Davis also served as President of the Baylor University Alumni Association, and is a recipient of Baylor’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
