Overview Jim Reece has assisted individuals and businesses in a wide range of litigation throughout the United States, England, Canada, and Mexico involving insurance coverage, insurance subrogation, property catastrophes, products liability, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, mass torts, toxic torts, professional liability, financial liability, antitrust claims, premises liability and contract, construction and real estate matters.
Jim was one of the principal attorneys in what has been described as the most complex insurance coverage case in Minnesota history. He has organized and directed large litigation teams from a number of firms; and he has worked extensively with world-renowned experts from a variety of technical fields. Jim has also been a principal architect of nationwide settlements of mass tort cases, and understands litigation strategies and dynamics from both sides. Jim has worked closely with top management and General Counsel to proactively address and limit potentially significant legal liabilities.
Jim has spoken on a number of litigation topics at seminars and law schools and has been a Special Master in Federal Court. |

Jim has handled numerous issues that arise under CGL and property policies, including: what constitutes an occurrence, number of occurrences, trigger, allocation, SIR issues, drop down issues, misrepresentation, occurrence and claims made interaction, late notice, exhaustion, failure to cooperate, bad faith allegations, arson, pollution exclusion, what constitutes property damage and others.
