Overview Dan is an experienced and passionate litigator and trial lawyer, focusing in the representation of insurance carriers in various insurance coverage matters. Dan’s insurance coverage practice concentrates on the interpretation and application of commercial general liability, commercial property, and excess and umbrella liability policies in a variety of cases involving negligence, product liability, construction defects, environmental contamination, and other bodily injury and property damage claims, as well as the defense of bad faith claims brought against insurance carriers.
Prior to joining Thompson Coe, Dan practiced as a litigation associate with an AmLaw Top-100 firm in Washington, DC, where he represented corporate policyholders in insurance coverage disputes with insurance carriers. From this experience, Dan is familiar with the strategies and perspectives employed by policyholders in insurance coverage disputes, which uniquely enables him to develop approaches and craft arguments on behalf of his clients that anticipate the opposing side’s position before it is even presented.
After graduating from Georgetown University Law Center, Dan served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Geoffrey M. Alprin of the District of Columbia Superior Court. In that role, Dan assisted Judge Alprin preside over a Felony-I criminal trial calendar consisting predominantly of homicide and sexual assault felony trials. During his clerkship, Dan helped manage more than 15 homicide and sexual assault trials and was responsible for significant legal analysis, research, and writing, all of which fostered Dan’s keen understanding of effective trial and written advocacy, trial practice, jury presentation, and motions practice. |
