Overview

Cory Reed maintains a diverse casualty litigation practice with an emphasis on defending both companies and individuals in cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, negligence, intentional torts, deceptive trade practices, premises liability, and products liability. The majority of Cory’s work has been in jurisdictions throughout Texas, and he has defended clients in both state and federal litigation.

In addition, Cory’s practice includes representing employers, managers, and other personnel in employment law matters arising under federal and state law, including matters involving gender discrimination, age discrimination, racial discrimination, disability discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, employment torts, and other legal issues arising in the work place.

Cory also devotes his practice to representing lawyers, accountants, architects, appraisers, engineers, real estate professionals, and other practicing professionals and groups in professional liability matters. This representation includes both litigation and appellate proceedings

  • Obtained favorable arbitration ruling on behalf of a national wholesale cash and carry food service supplier based on age and race discrimination claims.
  • Defended a local collision repair shop in a jury trial against allegations of fraud.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of an international footwear designer in a negligence action.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of an apartment complex owner and management company based on the “public duty” doctrine.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of local boat retailer in products liability action based on the “one satisfaction rule.”
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of one of the nation's premier financial services companies in a premises liability action stemming from a bank robbery.
  • Obtained favorable dismissal on behalf of international technology company in business disparagement action.
  • Defended national restaurant chain in a discrimination lawsuit.
  • Obtained favorable dismissal on behalf of Oregon Real Estate Company based on jurisdiction in a professional malpractice suit. Decision affirmed Bryan v. Gordon, 2012 WL 53333372 (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.] 2012, no pet.).
  • Obtained favorable dismissal on behalf of criminal defense attorney in legal malpractice action.
